Largest Express Entry Draw in Six Months Takes Place

On July 10th, 2019, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada did their largest Express Entry draw since January of 2019. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada selected 3,600 people from the Express Entry system with a score of 460 or higher.

The applicant’s profile needed to be active and eligible as of July 10th, 2019. The Tie-Breaker rule for this draw was June 11th, 2019. This rule only applies to those candidates in the Express Entry Pool with the same score as the lowest score selected in any draw. It does not effect those with a score higher than the lowest score selected.

This draw included applicants classified as Federal Skilled Workers, Federal Skilled Tradespeople, members of the Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominees.

The Express Entry system was designed to provide individuals with full Canadian Permanent Residency within as little as six months of applying. In order to qualify you need to be submitting an application as a Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, Canadian Experience Class or certain Express Entry Provincial Nominee Programs.

Canada does not have an “in-demand” occupation list, instead, they are looking for those who have work experience in management positions, professional occupations that typically require a university degree, technical jobs and skilled trades.

All applicants who apply through the Express Entry system are then assigned a score based on a variety of factors including age, education, work experience and language proficiency. This applicant’s score is then used to rank the applicant against all of the other applicants wanting to move to Canada.
